Dutch Company Launches New Canned Wine
April 02, 2024
A Dutch company called Vinovation International recently developed a new form of wine packaging - wine stored in 20 centiliter aluminum cans. The wine uses the wild pelican as its trademark, a concept that originated in Spain and was also the result of cooperation with South Africa, France and the Rexam aluminum can manufacturer. Unlike most canned wines, this wild Pelican wine does not produce bubbles, and the one that does will be released later this year. The wine, which has been tested on the Albes ski resort in France, will be released in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and other countries this spring and summer, and will be sold in supermarkets, specialty stores, restaurants and other places. Christiaan Huisman, founder of Vorno Vishen Wines, said: "Our goal is to produce canned wine products that are different from those available on the existing market. The creation of Wild Pelican brand is completely rooted in the love of wine, and is standing on the consumer's point of view, so that consumers can enjoy the world's top wines whenever and wherever they are.
Goth Nerin, head of market Research and development at Rexam, added: "Using aluminium cans as packaging is the perfect choice. Aluminum cans are lightweight and simple, easy to transport and store, and more importantly, they cool quickly, hold heat for a long time, and are 100 percent recyclable."
